Heidi Loubser
Dancer | Choreographer | Educator​

Heidi Loubser is a Kansas City based freelance dance artist. She began dancing in her hometown of Pretoria, South Africa and continued her studies at Brighton School of Ballet in Michigan. In 2019, Heidi graduated from Störling’s Artist Development Program (now accredited to offer a BA in Dance as Störling Conservatory of Dance).

She enjoyed three seasons with Störling Dance Theatre before joining Earthen Image Movement as a founding member in 2023. She is thankful for the evolving professional dance community in Kansas City and the many freelance opportunities she's been afforded locally.​​​
Many artists have shaped Heidi, but she wants to express particular thanks to Hannah Anderson.​
Longer biography below. ​Heidi Loubser is a Kansas City based dancer, choreographer, and educator. She is a founding member of Earthen Image Movement, performing work by Hannah Anderson and Seth York, in the 2023-2024 debut season. She is a faculty member and choreographer at The Culture House Conservatory of the Arts, Dramatic Truth School of the Arts, and Miami County Dance Movement. She also teaches in retirement homes with Vitality in Motion.​​ Heidi began dancing in her hometown of Pretoria, South Africa and continued her studies at Brighton School of Ballet in Michigan. She graduated from Störling’s Artist Development Program (now accredited to offer a BA in Dance as Störling Conservatory of Dance) in 2019 after two years full-time study. Through intensives, Heidi has also trained with Ballet Magnificat, Ad Deum Dance, Water Street Dance Festival, Ground Grooves, and on scholarship at Cleo Parker Robinson, Inlet Dance Theatre, Brighton Dance Festival, Detroit Dance City Festival, and Glenda Brown Choreography Project. ​​​After graduation, Heidi joined Störling Moves and acted as rehearsal director for a six week tour through Germany. She then danced three seasons with Störling Dance Theatre, where she performed in full length dance theatre productions Underground, Child of Hope, and Book of Kells, and in original contemporary repertory through The Midwest Trust Center's New Dance Partners. Throughout her time in the Störling community, she worked with choreographers Mona Storling-Enna, Tobin James, Lauri Stallings, Catherine Meredith, Rosie Herrera, Carolyn Dorfman, Margarita Diaz-Lutz, Kim Holloway, Marc Wayne, Hanan Misko, Suzanne Ryan-Strati, and Victoria Marks. Throughout the years, Heidi has worked with Jingle! (2024 season), Enchant Christmas (2023 season), Chadash Contemporary Dance Movement (Beacon), Greenleaf Performing Arts (Emmanuel), Story Slinger Entertainment (JAMMED), Maranatha Arts Collective (Songs of Deliverance, Go and Tell), JHS Pedals (Pedals the Musical), KC Contemporary Dance (First Fridays), City in Motion (2024-2025 season), Arts Vitalis Forum (ANIMAL TALK) and in two feature films with Firelight Creative (Between Two Worlds, Eden's Twilight). She's also worked with individual artists Talaessa Bice (At the Altar of Diana), Christina Sears-Etter (Demeter and Persephone), Brigitte Benyei (West Bottoms Heritage Days 2025), and Daintry TenNapel (Picking up the Pieces, Chosen). As a choreographer, Heidi has presented her work at Störling Conservatory of Dance, The Detroit Dance Race, Brazos Contemporary Dance Festival, Project Dance Houston, Dance in the Park (City in Motion), Open Stage at the J, Brighton Dance Festival, and Ballet Edge Detroit. Heidi also worked as the assistant choreographer for Firelight Creative’s film Between Two Worlds. The highlight of her choreographic career so far has been her collaborations with Atonement Lutheran Church to present choreography to Dan Forrest’s Requiem for the Living and Heather Sorenson’s Requiem – each time with live music.
